yeah, i have chase and just got their fee notice. you know what kills me about it? they are completely screwing entrepreneurs and freelancers. because those folks generally do not get their pay direct deposited, and that's the easiest way to avoid the chase fees. way to punish people for going out on their own rather than working in corporate america. if i leave my job i have to change banks because my next job will likely be freelance and i won't have direct deposit anymore.

i actually do have enough money in my emergency savings that i could maintain whatever the minimum balance is that they want now. but why would i do that when a) i'd be earning nothing on it and b) it's, you know, my emergency savings and i might need it in case of an actual emergency?

ugh. it just makes me SO angry.

I wish I could open an account at the "WTF Credit Union." http://www.wtfcu.com

How long did it take you to port over all of your auto-debit stuff? It seems like I would have to take a full day just to do that. It the long run, I think it would be worthwhile, though.

As I’ve become a professional (ha!) in IT, I have less interest in spending my free time at a computer. Also, I find my anxiety is worse when plugged in to the constant stream of Facebook. It’s disheartening for me to realize how many people have not only jumped ship from blogging in favor of Facebook, but that they are now using the medium of Facebook to place signal, but in a way that it can’t help but be drowned out by the noise.

Oh, yes, indeedy. I don't think Facebook has, or ever will be, designed to incorporate a high S/n ratio. I think its main purpose is to make superficial, light connections and to keep the attention spans short. The format favors games and memes over posts, partially because Zuckerberg seemingly created Facebook as a counterpoint to both MySpace and LiveJournal--it was a cleaner format than the former because it contained less content than the latter. I find that I can get a better S/n ratio from Twitter than Facebook, as there's something about Twitter's forced brevity that can inspire some creative comments from its users.

I also have less interest in computers or some elements of higher technology due to being in IT. Perhaps this industry just beats that out of us. Unfortunately for myself, I'm getting to the point of burning out as my work time is spent answering e-mails, most of which are less technical and more what I would consider to be pointless administrative paperwork. My free time has decreased, and while I do spend some of it in front of a computer, it's more frippery than anything productive. I have a lot of photos that have stacked up, and yes, I'd like to get some of them taken care of in Lightroom, but that feels like work nowadays, hence why I have a hard time getting motivated to do so when I have free time. Bleah.

I think of you so often. Donna asks about you, too. The world we knew is such a different place now. We've all gone in different directions. But I have this sadness that lingers like a dust cover over my fond memories of you- I'd like to at least meet for a hug, a touch, a word exchanged, a tear, any human contact that can gently lift and remove this veil. I was so worried... And then time kept on, and I still worried, but knew the time had passed for that. Now I just watch from afar and smile at your life unfolding in snippets divulged most conservatively. I love you- and miss you. Write any time... Sarah

Fun. I've been stumbling into a lot of web comics recently and have been trying to peg down what aspects actually make up a great comic. Drawing quality, content, story vs stand-alone.

Thanks for sharing.
-I am one of the candidates for the GirlDiver internship, that's how I stumbled across your blog-

I'm very glad that running is still inspirational for you, and is serving you well physically and emotionally. I am looking forward to seeing you run these races!

As for "boutique fitness mags", the editors really ought to know that running in make-up for extended periods of time in heat and/or cold clogs your pores and irritates your skin. (eye roll).

I've seen runners in fall and winter months sporting yellow, reflective vests over their gear. I'm thinking you could get them from sporting good stores (real and on-line), and/or running stores.
